Ketogenic Diet
Ketogenic Diet: The Basics
The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, moderate-protein, very low-carbohydrate eating plan. Scientists originally designed keto to treat epilepsy in children, but the more commonly known keto diet is used today as a popular weight loss approach. While this restrictive diet isn’t for everyone and can cause unpleasant side effects, proponents like that it leads to relatively quick weight loss, which happens thanks to a metabolic state called ketosis that causes the body to burn fat in the absence of carbs.
