Stress
Stress: The Basics
Stress refers to the body and mind's response to daily challenges or threats. While some stress is normal and can even be beneficial for survival, chronic stress — defined as stress that lasts for more than three months — can adversely affect emotions, cognition, and physical health. The causes of stress are diverse, ranging from work pressures to personal concerns. Stress can have a variety of effects on the body, such as fatigue, anxiety, headaches, and insomnia. Without effective management, chronic stress may lead to serious health issues, including heart disease and lowered immunity.
